Hakuba Accommodation
Accommodation in Japan varies from fairly basic and small accommodation with smaller rooms, with the bare minimum of necessities, eg small wardrobes (if any), smaller beds and even smaller bathrooms to latest new western style accommodation, with al the mod cons & modern decore. We have listed below some example of the many different types of accommodation available.
Self Contained Accommodation
There is a large selection of self contained accommodation available in the village. This includes basic cottages right through to luxury western style apartments.
Self contained apartments and cottages are perfect for families or groups of friends. Kitchens generally cater for unit size with pots, pans, cutlery etc. and all have their own private bathrooms.

Chalets/Private Homes
Chalets are like Private Homes standalone houses which sometimes comes with Car Park. They are large comfortable, spacious chalets designed for the discerning holiday traveller. Generally 2-4 bedroom & 2-4 bathrooms.

Hotels
Some Hotels have ski in / ski out accommodation or short walk to lifts and are of varying standards and locations. Many have a huge range of facilities, plus extras like souvenir shops, restaurants and karaoke, osens, close to other restaurants & bars.
Pensiones
The Pensione style of accommodation is the most prevalent in Japan and offers a truly Japanese experience. Pensiones are B+B, backpackers hostel and old country style hotel all rolled into 1, usually run by local families. The service and food is always good. En-suite bathrooms are rare, as are rooms with double beds. It is high recommended to book this style of rooms early.

Lodges
Lodges are a larger version of a pensione, but usually have en suite bathrooms. They usually offer more amenities, like games rooms, large Japanese style osens baths and common lounge and bar areas, small restaurant or common kitchen where you can cook your own meals. Lodges are also usually located closer to the lifts.
